How to use
In the block editor, add the “EMI Calculator” block (Widgets category) to a page or post. Or add the shortcode:
[rio-emi-calculator]
Both accept an optional currency (INR, USD, GBP, EUR, JPY or RMB) and display (text or symbol) that override the plugin settings, for example [rio-emi-calculator currency="USD" display="symbol"].
Then open “Rio EMI Calculator” in the WordPress admin menu to choose the currency and whether it is shown as text or as a symbol. The calculator is displayed on single posts and pages.
What is EMI?
An Equated Monthly Instalment (EMI) is the fixed amount you pay your bank or lender every month to repay a loan with interest, until the loan is fully repaid. See “How is EMI calculated?” below for the formula.
Who it is for
Banks and loan agents, loan comparison sites, real-estate and car-dealer websites, and finance blogs, especially for audiences in India and South Asia where EMI is the usual way to quote a loan payment.
External services
The calculator title links to https://www.calculator.io/emi-calculator/ (or its translation for the site language); nothing is sent unless a visitor follows the link.

How do I add the calculator?
In the block editor, add the “EMI Calculator” block. In the classic editor or a shortcode block, use [rio-emi-calculator]. The calculator is displayed on single posts and pages.
How to Install the plugin?
- Activate the EMI Calculator plugin from the Plugins menu.
- Add the “EMI Calculator” block, or the shortcode [rio-emi-calculator], to a page or post.
- Optionally choose the currency under “Rio EMI Calculator” in the admin menu.
How is EMI calculated?
An Equated Monthly Instalment (EMI) is usually a fixed amount of money that you need to pay your bank or lender every month as repayment of a loan taken, until your loan is totally repaid.
The formula to calculate an EMI:
EMI = [P x R x (1+R)^N]/[(1+R)^N-1]
P =loan amount or Principal
R = Interest rate per month
[To calculate rate per month: if the interest rate per annum is 14%, the per month rate would be 14/(12 x 100)]
N = the number of installments
Can I use it for home, car and personal loans?
Yes. The calculator uses the standard EMI formula for a loan with equal monthly instalments, so it suits home loans, car loans, personal loans and similar loans. The result is an estimate and does not include processing fees or other charges.
Does it show the amortization table?
No. It shows the monthly EMI, the total interest payable, the total of payments and a pie chart of principal versus interest. There is no month-by-month schedule.
Can I change the currency?
Yes. Choose Indian Rupee, US Dollar, Pound Sterling, Euro, Japanese Yen or Chinese Yuan in the plugin settings, and choose whether it is displayed as a code or a symbol.
Can I put two calculators on the same page?
Use one calculator per page. The fields use fixed element IDs, so a second copy on the same page will not work correctly.
Does the plugin collect or send visitor data?
No. The calculation runs in the visitor’s browser and nothing the visitor enters is stored or sent anywhere.

Changelog
1.5.0
- New: Gutenberg block “EMI Calculator” with a live preview; optional currency and display settings per block (and per shortcode).
- Translation-ready: all admin and front-end strings can be translated.
- A review reminder in the admin after two weeks, dismissible.
- Requires WordPress 5.5 or later.
1.4.2
- Security: escape all output, whitelist the currency and display settings on save, check capability on the settings page.
- Fix: the shortcode now returns its markup instead of printing it, so it appears where it is placed in the content.
- The principal/interest pie chart is drawn by the plugin itself (SVG); Google Charts is no longer loaded from gstatic.com.
- Removed a stray debug dump from the settings page; prefixed all function names; enqueue scripts and styles with versions and dependencies; no request for the missing icon font stylesheet.
